PLOWING THE GARDEN

It's Springtime and this year we are planting a garden. Grandaddy said he would use his bright red, newly redone tractor to help plow it and so a few minutes later we had a HUGE plowed area! We are planting tomatoes, okra, beans, squash, cucumbers, sunflowers and some wild onions. Yes, come June I will be cursing the day we decided to do this, but until then I think it's going to be fun. Noah just loves running back and forth over the rows and making tractor sounds while pretending to drive the tractor.

Just don't do what Daddy does. He plants two insanely long rows of string beans, then comes back 2-3 weeks later and plants 2 more long rows of string beans. Then, just as we're all sick of the first round and rejoicing that they're finished, the second round comes in...and you have to go through it all again. A few years ago, Mama canned 50 quarts of string beans. Oops...didn't mean to scare you away from gardening... : )

Just make sure you cover up the onions!
I die laughing every time I hear Mom tell the story of the time you and Matthew followed her directions to, "put one onion in each hole." She forgot to say, "and cover them up."
I'm having a blast gardening with my kids at school. Just today, we were so excited to see that our Rat-Tailed Radishes are sprouting! We can't wait for our Dragon Carrots to grow.
I want to jump in the garden and plop in the fluffy soil--can't do that at my school because we don't have a big red tractor.

Mmmmm, fresh veggies...yum! Kimberly and I planted tomatoes yesterday. That's the extent of gardening I do, hopefully I won't kill THESE plants.

I remember planting with Aunt Claudia! Then we ate strawberries on the back porch. Ahh, the good ole days.
